Miramichi Players are happy to announce the upcoming production of Self-Help, a comedy by Canada's own Norm Foster. Show time is 8pm at MVHS theatre on May 21, 22, and 23 2009. We recommend a PG13 rating for some mature humor and language. Tickets are $10 and are available at Saltwater sounds, from cast members or at the door.

Follow the story of two married second-rate actors who re-invent themselves as self-help gurus. Their lives are turned into a farce as they try to hide a body and save their falsely won fame.

Needed: A Few Good Men and Women

Are you an aspiring actor? Can you design and build sets? Got the theatre bug? Then you are just the kind of person we are looking for. Miramichi Players is a local theatre group and we are beginning work on a stage production for spring 2009. We are a group of like minded individuals who believe that there is a place for live theatre in Miramichi.

In the spring of 2008 we staged our first production: An Evening of Comedic Theatre. The evening performances consisted of 5 short comedies for Miramichi audiences and we had a great time doing it (take a look at previous posts for some photos). New friends were made, old acquaintances renewed and skills honed. Because of the success of our first outing, a decision was made to continue on and start work on the next show. Something a little bigger, a bit more involved and even more fun.

If you have an interest in any aspect of theatre let us know. Whether you are an actor, carpenter or just interested in helping out we can find a place for you. Do you have a couple of hours a week? Welcome to the web page for the Miramichi Players.

We are a new, small group dedicated to bringing theatre to the Miramichi. We started last fall and put on our first production in May of 2008. Entitled "An Evening of Comedic Theatre" it comprised 4 short plays and a 40 minute play. All comedies were enthusiastically received by the audiences and that convinced us that we should continue this endeavor. Not that we really needed that much convincing.

We're currently involved in script research and are expecting to have casting calls very shortly. If you have any interest in the theatre, be it acting, writing, directing or production, we'd love to have you. We're easily contacted though email: miramichiplayers@hotmail.com
